As far as spam flashes go, I didn't find this one particularly funny. Maybe it would have worked if strawberry clock wasn't in the icon, or actually sounded like strawberry clock. But I still don't think it would have worked. I just don't think it works conceptually. Sorry :(
This was friggin awesome. It's full of imagination and the animation is incredibly smooth. I have no complaints except that I thought the main character's walk cycle was slightly awkward at time. Nitpicking aside, great job! This is front page worthy material for sure.
Animation was fabulous, music was spot on, and it tickled the nostalgia bone. What's not to like?
And I never did that in Mario 64. I swear to god! :)
Nice little game :3
Very ethereal experience. It might make sense though to include a high score system, though I don't know if that would take away from the overall experience or not.
I think you have something cool in the works. Keep working on it even though the game jam is done.
Really good for being done in 52 hours. I do wish your magic meter restored faster, but I have no real complaints besides a few nitpicks. Several years ago I tried to make a homebrew NES game with similar gameplay to this, and this is how an action RPG should be done.
I've played with the mana regen rates, maybe grab a friend and give it another go. I'd love to hear whatever nitpicks you have. Never give up on developing!
Passable Flappy Bird Clone. Everything seems to be working in order, but I've seen a million of these types of games and I've grown tired of them. You did come close to breaking the mold though with that power-up that lets you break through the pipes. If you return to this genre, I want to see you do some crazy stuff! Between this and the Nyan Cat game I saw earlier, you're games so far have been unoriginal, but polished. You have potential, so don't give up!
A more minor nitpick, but you should strive for more diversity if a sound effect is getting repetitive. Dash yelling "yeah! yeah! yeah!" over and over again is a bit grinding to the ears. The best way to fix this would be to alternate between 3 different sound effects at random. If you want to get real picky, you can bend the pitch very slightly at random too :P
Now don't get me wrong, Dash is awesome ^_^
Hahah if I return to this kind of game I will most definitely do all that you said. :) I know what you mean by it getting old. Maybe I could think up a way to add more creativity to it. I've got some creative ideas, but for the langest time I haven't had a team to help me make them come alive, but now I do, for the PO4 contest and hopefully after that.
Dash is most definitely awesome, I'm glad you think so! And I'll definitely make another game like this with a lot more to offer than this did.
